Matt’s Herniated Disk

1998 (in my early 20s) –

August

I find my doctor (a National Health Service General Practitioner, for readers in the US) very good: understanding, willing to explain and objective; not everyone may be so lucky. Notwithstanding, due to NHS waiting list of 3 months, I paid privately for an MRI scan (£300 from Vista Disgnostics in London Waterloo, although I live in Cornwall).

  • in my early teens I was disgnosed with Scheurmann’s disease. I first found this out when my GP told me (before my sciatica began). As I say, I like my GP – the only one to mention it as possibly significant in 15 years of back pain.
