Scitica isn’t a medical problem, but a symptom of one. Pretty much in order of occurence, these are sensations I experienced. Some of these may not be textbook or even sciatica, but hey, I they were symptoms and I’m not a doctor!:
- small, ‘sharp’ pain in the buttocks
- pain at top of thigh muscles
- aching hips (with hindsight this wasn;t a hip problem but the start of sciatica at top of thighs)
- pain bending leg
- very ‘stiff’ aching leg muscles
- Extremely strong shooting pains down the leg (strongest pain I’ve felt yet)
- pins and needles down leg
- strong pins and needles in foot
- pain in thigh (like a torn hamstring years ago)
- sandpapered calf muscle (as if the skin’s not there)
- numb toes
- numb top of foot
- decreased sensation in skin under leg
- pain ‘inside’ knee
- sharp to pain in rectum,
- tingling to dull ache in perineum
- dull ache in testes (like after being kicked in the balls)
- dull ache in lower back / base of spine (yes, not sciatica but I thought I’d write it)
